Commissions steal your soul. I'm not joking, and I'm done with them--I'm DONE! As good as the money looks when you start a project, by the middle of it you can't help but feel a little frustrated... and dirty... This has nothing to do with 'selling out' as an artist or what the meaning of 'Art' is... Unless you can somehow connect yourself to a personal meaning in the commissioned work...but even then I'd say stay away from commissioned work all together... Commissions come with expectations that aren't yours. You're allowing people to put their expectations on you and define your pieces with a price tag. Commissions mean taking away your
